Irish Against Oppression Fundraiser
Support your local AND international causes, when Irish musicians and singers perform Sat., 4/29 at 8:00 p.m. those repertoires too daring to play to general American audiences back in March – St. Patrick’s Month!
At this concert, they’ll musically tell the tales of heroes and heroines who martyred themselves for the cause of Irish freedom and nationhood – and will show us the parallels with today’s injustices here in the U.S. and abroad.
With an exceptional line-up of talent, and groups still volunteering as of this writing, no one should be daunted by this unhappy-sounding theme, as the songs are spirited, rousing, and audience-participation is a big part of this lively night.
This April 29th fundraiser is the first effort by a broad coalition called Irish Against Oppression, formed by committed folks of the Irish community in Philadelphia. Our organization works to abolish injustices stemming from our deeply-divided and often racist system. Funds accruing from this concert will be donated directly to the Pennsylvania Abolitionist Center and the Craigavon Two Campaign.
